During this time of public health concerns related to COVID-19, Jamaica Plain Animal Clinic wants to assure you that our top priority remains the safety of our clients, patients and employees. We are committed to continually enhancing our safety standards and health practices. We will be closely monitoring and following all recommendations from the CDC and local government.
In order to ensure the safety of both our staff and clients during the COVID-19 crisis, we have transitioned to “curb-side” veterinary services only, until further notice.**
APPOINTMENT INSTRUCTIONS: Please fill out and submit the history / exam form at least one hour prior to your appointment. You can find this form at the top of the main page of our website. When you and your pet are in front of the clinic, please call and a staff member will come to the door to take your pet inside for their exam. A doctor will call to discuss the exam findings and formulate a treatment plan with you. A staff member will collect payment over the phone and bring your pet and any medications outside to you. As always, dogs must be on a leash and cats must be in a carrier.
** If you do not have a car to wait in during your pet's appointment, and are having difficulty waiting in any extreme weather outdoors, please let a staff member know and we may be able to let you wait in our waiting area or an exam room. You will not, however, under any circumstances be able to accompany your pet into the treatment area and must WEAR A MASK at all times while in the building.
** The one other exception we are making to our policy of not allowing clients in the building is for euthanasia of their pet. This is a difficult and sensitive moment where we feel this accommodation should be made. If you schedule a euthanasia appointment please note that no more than 2 people will be allowed in the building with the pet and all parties must wear a mask at all times while in the building.
To further help in supporting our patients and clients while preventing the spread of COVID-19, we will also be using telemedicine. This will include veterinary consults via phone call and/or video chatting and will be available for current patients. Please call our office to discuss with a staff member if a telemedicine visit is appropriate for your pet and the associated fees.
If you need prescriptions or products, please call us to make the request. We will call you back when it is ready and collect payment over the phone. We then request that you call us when you are here to pick up and a staff member will bring your prescription outside to you.
In addition to the above mentioned procedures, we have enhanced disinfection protocols around the clinic, and will not allow staff to work if they are sick or have had any potential exposure to COVID-19. In turn, we ask that if you have any symptoms or exposure that you refrain from coming to the clinic and call us instead to discuss how we can best provide care for your pet without putting our employees or other clients at risk.
